Seal & Story is run by Dharmesh Mistry, a sole trader in Bedfordshire, England. This notice explains what information we hold, why, and your rights. Questions: 07930 980525 or info@sealandstory.com.
If you buy an invitation
We hold your name, email address, phone number, the details of your order and your celebration, and a record of your payments. We use them to make and run your invitation, to send you your links and receipts, and to keep tax records. Card payments are handled by Stripe or Revolut. We never see your card details.
The lawful basis is our contract with you. We keep order and payment records for six years because tax law requires it.
If you are a guest
When you reply to an invitation, we store your name, your reply, how many are coming, any dietary note or song request, and any photos or questions you add. We hold this for the hosts, who decide how it is used. Dietary notes can reveal health or religious details, so only the hosts and Seal & Story can see them.
If you ask the invitation’s concierge a question, your question is answered by an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic) using only the invitation’s own details, and the question is shown to the hosts.
We delete guest data about three months after the celebration, or sooner if the hosts ask.
Who we share it with
Only the services we need to run the site, each under a contract that protects your data:
- Netlify, which hosts the site. Guest and order data is stored in its European data centre in Frankfurt.
- Stripe and Revolut, which take payments.
- Resend, which sends our emails.
- Anthropic, which powers the concierge and translations. It sees the invitation’s text and the question asked, and does not use them to train its models.
Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where data leaves the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires. We never sell your information or use it for advertising.
Cookies and storage
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser remembers a few small things for you, such as your language choice, whether music is on, and your dashboard login. Stripe and Revolut use their own cookies on their payment pages to prevent fraud.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Contact us and we will reply within a month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
